Inspect Your Restroom

One of the most common areas where water damage occurs in a household is in the restroom. Due to the repetitive usage of showers, faucets, and toilets in such concised areas, there is a high amount of stress placed on the plumbing pipes. This stress creates a higher chance of water leaking through any of these sources. The steam that comes from showers also causes issues all around. It's always a good idea to inspect your restroom before severe water damage occurs.
Identifying plumbing issues can be tricky because they are under and behind walls, so if something were to happen it can be easily missed. Listening for drips or unusual pipe noises can help one identify potential problems.
The bathroom sink and toilet are used so frequently that one might overlook a simple spill of water that happens often. However, spilling water over and over is causing damage to the cabinets, walls, and floors. So it is important to dry up spills quickly and tune up any leaks you locate in the area.
When you shower and leave a room full of steam it may not seem like much, but that steam is damaging tiles, walls, ceilings, paint and possibly products in the room. If not handled properly this can also lead to mold problems. Installing a ventilation fan in your restroom will help control the humidity. If you're not able to install a fan you can simply crack open the window or door to allow the humidity to escape.
